W.E.B Production Results – May 2026

06/2026 - Back to overview

Warm weather and persistent high-pressure systems lead to production below plan

Total electricity production for May amounted to 124,874 MWh, falling short of the planned target.

May was warmer than usual and was marked by an exceptional heatwave toward the end of the month. Persistent high-pressure systems across large parts of Europe resulted in extended periods of low wind speeds. Consequently, planned wind energy production was not achieved in Austria, Germany, the Czech Republic, and France.

Stronger wind conditions prevailed in Italy, Canada, and the United States, where production exceeded expectations.

The above-average temperatures were also accompanied by significantly more sunshine than normal. As a result, the photovoltaic portfolio outperformed its production targets in Austria, Germany, the Czech Republic, and the United States. Conditions were somewhat cloudier in Slovakia and Italy, where planned solar generation was not fully achieved.
