Wind Farm Spannberg IV Now in Operation – Power for 15,000 Households

07/2025 - Back to overview

In July 2025, the Spannberg IV wind farm in Lower Austria officially began full operations. Four state-of-the-art V162 wind turbines from the Danish manufacturer Vestas are now generating clean energy with a total capacity of 22.4 MW. This means they produce enough energy to supply around 15,000 households.

The total investment amounted to 40 million euros, part of which was financed through the 2024 bond issue.

The grand opening was held in the presence of Mayor of Spannberg  Sandro Kaufmann, State Parliament Member René Lobner, the W.E.B executive board, the project and construction management teams, and over 300 guests. The long-standing and trusted partnership between Spannberg and W.E.B was clearly evident throughout the event – both during the official ceremony and in many personal conversations.

And there’s more to come: Starting in 2027, the second expansion phase will begin, adding seven more wind turbines to the existing wind farm. This marks a strong commitment to the energy transition and sustainable electricity generation in the region.
