W.E.B production results May 2021

06/2021 - Back to overview

Typical “April weather” in May:
a clear plus in production

The overall monthly production of 130,167 MWh remained clearly above the defined target in May.

The unsettled weather in May almost seamlessly picked up where April had left off. The engine of these climatic conditions located in northern Europe, where an extensive low-pressure system continuously pumped cool and humid air from the Atlantic to Central Europe. Nature benefitted from the high level of precipitation as a welcome relief to its parched deeper soil layers.

After the calm weather in the first quarter, the excellent wind conditions were also a blessing for the wind industry. For the first time in a long whole, W.E.B is able to report clearly positive results in all its production countries (Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Czech Republic, Canada, United States) in the wind power segment.

The described weather did not have the same favorable effect on the photovoltaic power segment, as the month of May had fewer hours of sunshine than the long-time climatic average. Nevertheless, our productions in Austria, Czech Republic and Italy missed their targets just by a slight margin, while Germany even concluded the month above target.

In the hydroelectric power segment, Austria and Germany concluded the month below target.
