W.E.B production results March 2022

04/2022 - Back to overview

High-pressure systems block lows:
monthly production clearly below target

The overall monthly production of 104,215 MWh remained significantly below the defined target.

In the first ten days of March, a large-scale and particularly stable high-pressure system developed above Scandinavia and eastern Europe. In late March, the same system had already expanded all across Europe. The permanent high-pressure conditions provided for the driest March with the most hours of sunshine in the history of weather data recording.

Europe’s general weather situation resulted in the wind power production of Austria, France, Germany, Italy and the Czech Republic to fall far below expectations. While the wind power plants of W.E.B performed much better in Canada, they just missed their target in the United States.

The record amount of sunshine enabled Austria, the Czech Republic and Germany to boast excellent solar production results. Unfortunately the big PV plants in Italy and the United States could not keep up, which is why the overall results of the photovoltaic power segment still fall below target.

In the hydroelectric power segment, both Austria and Germany remained below target.
