W.E.B production results March 2021

04/2021 - Back to overview

Spring weather and influence of high-pressure systems:
monthly production below target

The overall monthly production of 118,939 MWh remained below the defined target in the month of March.

The pleasant warm beginning to March was abruptly blown away by a winter cold snap. This air mass exchange led to movement and the wind power generation facilities of W.E.B could finally have a proper and stable wind harvest. However, milder weather quickly set in, which brought us the first summer days towards the end of the month.

In spite of these strong spring fluctuations, the high-pressure influence predominated in Europe. As a consequence, production results in Austria, France, Germany, Italy and the Czech Republic were below expectations. On the other side of the Atlantic, strong winds drove the W.E.B wind power plants and resulted in clearly positive results in Canada and the USA.

A great deal of sunshine in Austria, Czech Republic and Germany led to an above-average good level of production in the photovoltaic power segment. Unfortunately, Italy saw cloudier weather, and thus the photovoltaic segment did not reach its targets. Accordingly, the overall results for the segment were slightly negative.

In the hydroelectric power segment, Austria and Germany remained below target.
