W.E.B production results July 2021

08/2021 - Back to overview

Severe difference in weather conditions :
production results slightly below target

The overall monthly production of 81,781 MWh remained below the defined target in July.

In central and western Europe, the month of July 2021 was characterized by devastating floods, caused by the collision of hot and humid winds from the Mediterranean region with an upper level low from the north. This resulted in a so-called trough that hardly moved along and rather concentrated on a limited area.

In southeastern Austria, for example, the story was quite a different one: July was nothing but lots of hot days with hardly any precipitation. The wind conditions were just as fragmented. While our wind power production exceeded its target by considerable margins in Austria and Italy, the wind turbines in France, Germany and the Czech Republic delivered results almost exclusively below average. Once again, Canada and the United States generated positive results.

The dryer regions in Austria, Germany and the Czech Republic benefitted from lots of sunshine and excellent PV production results. As it was a little cloudier in Italy, the PV production target remained out of reach. In consequence, the PV power segment concluded the month below expectations.

In the hydroelectric power segment, Austria and Germany remained below target.
