W.E.B production results August 2020

09/2020 - Back to overview

Average wind conditions :
monthly production slightly above target

The overall monthly production of 76,877 MWh remained slightly above target in August.

Most will remember the month of August as rather cool and wet. When it comes to rainfall, people’s perception was right. In terms of temperatures, however, the last month was among the top 10 hottest Augusts in recorded history. The wind conditions we had to deal with were just as exciting: in the first three weeks of August, there was hardly any movement of air masses, until the last week completed the production month on the positive side with a brilliant “wind finish”. Taking a closer look, Austria, Germany and Italy did not perform as expected, while France, the Czech Republic, Canada and the United States generated good or even excellent results.

The photovoltaic power plants in Austria, Germany and the Czech Republic delivered positive results in August. As Italy suffered from longer periods of cloudy weather, our Italian PV plants could not keep up with expectations. Nevertheless, the overall photovoltaic power segment managed to remain on the plus side.

The hydroelectric power segment remained below target both in Austria and in Germany.
