W.E.B production results April 2021

05/2021 - Back to overview

Cool and dry:
We are happy to report a monthly production above target

The overall monthly production of 119,596 MWh remained clearly above the defined target in April.

Such a cool April has not been recorded for a long time – more than 20 years in Austria and even 40 years in Germany. The low temperatures were the result of a polar vortex split in January and its aftermath. When it comes to wind conditions, this April was rather refreshing.

After several months of quiet air masses above Europe, the wheels were put back into motion in April. Our wind power plants in Austria, Germany, the Czech Republic and Italy produced better than expected. While France remained below target and the United States fell shy of a positive result, Canada turned in a superb performance.

Our production in photovoltaic power segment was very different from one region to another. Easter Austria was particularly successful and turned the Austrian result on the positive side. The Czech Republic and Germany were to generate significantly better results than planned. As Italy suffered from poor weather conditions, the monthly target remained out of reach.

In the hydroelectric power segment, Austria and Germany concluded the month below target.
