Wind conditions below average result in decline in sales revenue
The first three months of the year were particularly poor in terms of wind volume. Nevertheless, all that changed in the second quarter: the desired wind gained pace in April and May, enabling the W.E.B wind power plants to generate the corresponding plus in production. Unfortunately the month of June was once again below average in Europe. In a nutshell, the first half of 2021 fell short of its production target by 8 percent. As the same period in the previous year boasted a plus in production, the W.E.B Group concluded the first six months of 2021 with a generated sales revenue of MEUR 53.8. This corresponds to a decline in sales revenue of approximately 8 percent compared to last year’s first half year. The earnings before taxes amounted to MEUR 10.2.
The Austrian wind farms under construction are coming along. The wind power project in the Waldviertel region took a voluntary construction break as a precautionary measure so as not to disturb the common buzzards breeding close to the construction site. Afterwards the construction work resumed. The project is still on schedule and will set up the power plants this year. The Weinviertel region has good news to report as well: the foundations were laid and preparations made for the plant components to arrive both in Spannberg and Matzen-Klein-Harras. The two wind farms are scheduled to be put into operation in early 2022. What’s new overseas? In the United States, W.E.B is building photovoltaic power plants to go into operation within the year with a total capacity of 7.56 MWp. Moreover, construction work on the U.S. wind power project Silver Maple has begun. The project with a capacity of 20 MW will already be generating clean, regional energy in early 2022.
