Groundbreaking for the Repowering of the Břežany Wind Park in the Czech Republic

The groundbreaking ceremony on September 17, 2026, marked the start of a new generation for the Břežany wind park in South Moravia. W.E.B is repowering the wind farm, which has been in operation for more than 20 years, paving the way for the continued long-term use of the site for wind power generation.

Located near Znojmo, the wind farm was built in 2005 and currently consists of five Vestas V52 wind turbines with a total installed capacity of 4.25 MW. Since commissioning, the turbines have reliably generated renewable electricity.

As part of the repowering project, the five existing turbines will be replaced by two modern Vestas V150 wind turbines. With a total installed capacity of approximately 10 MW, the capacity at the site will more than double while the number of turbines will be reduced.

The groundbreaking marks the beginning of the construction phase and an important milestone for the project. Modern turbine technology will enable W.E.B to make more efficient use of the site’s wind resources and generate significantly more renewable electricity in the future.

With the Břežany repowering project, W.E.B is continuing the site’s successful history of wind power generation. Proven use of wind energy combined with modern technology creates the foundation for generating renewable electricity in the region for decades to come.
