Annual General Meeting Focused on Active Citizen Participation
05/2025 - Back to overview
The 26th Annual General Meeting of WEB Windenergie AG concluded on May 9, 2025, with strong approval for nearly all resolutions and a warm welcome for Frank Dumeier as the newly elected member of the Supervisory Board. However, the proposal for a planned capital increase did not achieve the required 80% majority. Nevertheless, as a well-financed company, W.E.B continues to seize opportunities in a growing market.
As in previous years, the city hall in Waidhofen an der Thaya was filled to capacity, and over 190 shareholders followed the proceedings via live stream. After welcoming remarks by Supervisory Board Chairman Josef Schweighofer, the Executive Board presented the 2024 business year.
Stefanie Markut, Board Member for Corporate Development, emphasized W.E.B’s pioneering role in wind energy: “We are economically well positioned and capable of shaping the future. For over 30 years, we have been growing profitably while staying true to our values, history, and identity. Citizen participation is and will remain our foundation. Together, we are making the energy transition a reality.”
Florian Müller, responsible for Project Development, provided insights into global renewables and W.E.B’s current projects: “With 151.6 MW commissioned, 2024 was not only a record year for commissioning at W.E.B. Almost 700 GW of installed capacity also marks a record at global level. In view of the sharp rise in global electricity demand, this means high growth potential for W.E.B. We will exploit this potential. We currently have a pipeline size of more than 4 GW. Around 174 MW are expected to be connected to the grid in 2025 and 2026."
Roman Prager, Board Member for Operations, reported on plant operations and new technologies: “W.E.B reached a new high in electricity production in 2024. A total of 1,574 GWh of clean electricity was generated, most of it in our main market Austria. We are currently setting innovative standards with our Power Purchase Agreement with voestalpine for the production of green steel and the use of drone technology for more efficient and cost-effective maintenance of our power plants. This means that W.E.B is at the cutting edge of technology and business.”
Michael Trcka, CFO, presented the 2024 financial results and details on the proposed capital increase: "The annual result for 2024 clearly shows that we can achieve solid results even with lower electricity prices and higher investments and expenses for our growth. With the proposed capital increase, we would have had the opportunity to implement many profitable projects on the basis of a broader equity base. Unfortunately, the proposal did not receive the required majority of 80 percent of votes today. We may now have to reduce the pace at which we implement one project or another. In any case, we will continue to work with full commitment and remain on the growth path we have chosen."
All other resolutions, including the discharge of the Management and Supervisory Boards, were approved by the necessary majority.
Frank Dumeier, former W.E.B Executive Board member, was elected to the Supervisory Board. A dividend payout of EUR 2.30 was approved.
The 26th Annual General Meeting of WEB Windenergie AG ended at 7:30 pm.
