WEB Italia Energie Rinnovabili s.r.l. is based in Bolzano and employs a seven-person team working on the Italian energy transition. This subsidiary was founded in 2008. The company currently operates one wind farm and four solar power plants in Italy. WEB Italia focusses on the particular features of the Italian energy market, namely the country’s auction system for electricity tariffs and high energy prices in comparison to other markets.

The CEO of the Italian W.E.B subsidiary has got a degree in Mechanical Engineering (University of Parma and Polytechnic University of Valencia). During his post degree studies at University of Parma and at University of Central Florida, he awarded a PhD for programs across the field of renewable energy plants.
He has 20 years of experience in the renewable energy sector within international groups. He covered managerial roles in project management, sales, project planning (authorizations, financing and construction of wind farms and solar parks) and asset management.

Rainer Karan joined WEB Windenergie AG in 2023 as Head of Business Development.
He is a senior executive with 20+ years of experience in European and international technology companies, specializing in renewable energy. Previously, he led sales for South Europe, Turkey, Middle East & Africa at VESTAS and held global P&L roles at SIEMENS VAI.
He holds a Mechatronics degree from Johannes Kepler-University-Linz and has served in key industry board positions.
